Session 3

During the session two we previewed designs of your storyboards. It was good experience and we saw many interesting ideas. In summary, we understand that the design must carefully consider screen size limitation and yet present information in interesting and effective ways,. As we saw, we are not limited just to text, but today’s handheld technology allows us to have images, animations, videos and audios presented. I would like you to update your initial storyboard and to have a new post in your blogs that presents your redesign and some reflection about what you changed.

About session 3, please make sure that you bring at least 10 photographs form your school/library/classroom environment. We will use these photographs to develop digital story for presentation via handheld devices. Material for the session 3 is given in the following link: http://www.learnactivity.com/ds/

Please try to be active with your blogs and also in commenting to other students’ and the facilitators’ posts.

Session 2

We are ready to explore specific functionalities of handheld technology. In the second class, the students will present their completed storyboard projects. I hope that we will be able to generate some common idea how school library web site should look like and also to understand limitations for design of sites for small screen presentation. I invite students to comment on critical issues affecting design of web sites for school library for handheld presentation.

Welcome CD200515 "Mobile Technologies for Teacher Librarians" module. This module examines key features of mobile technology devices, design of resources and explores possibilities for effective application of this technology in educational activities supported by teacher librarians and library services.

In this module, you will set up your own blog and use it as digital portfolio to reflect, present your work and propose ideas and resources for other. You can set up your blog using one of free systems such as: Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/), Xanger (http://www.xanga.com/) or Edublogs (http://learnerblogs.org/). Once you set up your own blog, attach a comment to this post that contains web address to your blog.

Sessions’ slides, some reading material, other resources and web space where you can upload your files will be available through ILN (http://www.cite.hku.hk/en/). One more thing, please update your emial addresses in the ILN, as I might need to sent group email to all of you.
